Scientists who represent the authorities are hinting that social distancing will be around for some time. What effect will that have on combat sports and martial arts practice?
They might be banned, in which case people can no longer learn self defence, or learn how to toughen themselves up. I'm sure the authorities won't have a problem with that.
More likely, underground fight clubs will spring up everywhere. Just remember the first rule.
On the other hand, martial artists might adapt their training methods by introducing social distance compatible defence strategies.
Like pike fighting.
I'm sure a 16 foot pole with a pointy bit on the end will serve to keep assailants at a reasonable distance.
Who knows, it might even become an Olympic sport - much to the annoyance of traditionalists who would argue that they can't have their flanks protected by musketry in a sporting situation.
