Babylon 5 was a 5-year TV show back in the 1990s. It also happened to be the best SF show ever. I still watch it today thanks to my DVD boxed set.
Yes an actual box containing a set of DVDs.
I won't go into the basic plot, but looking back over the last 20 years all the themes in that show have occurred here on Earth. And, like the Simpsons, with startling accuracy. It all began with their very own 9/11 event and yes, galaxy-wide plagues too.
It was a series full of high adventure and a reasonably quantifiable dose of esoteric wisdom up there with the best of Master Yoda.
